Serral triumphs at ESL Masters Summer in Starcraft 2

Joona “Serral” Sotala has won the summer edition of the European ESL Masters Summer. In the final he prevailed against the Protoss player “MaxPax”, who is only known under his pseudonym (4:2).

“It’s been a while since I’ve won an EU regional tournament,” Serral wrote on Twitter. “But today I did it again and it feels great as always!”

The final between Serral and MaxPax was a duel at eye level. The opponents alternately won the first four maps of the best-of-seven series. In a 26-minute Macro battle, Serral broke the rhythm and secured the title.

MaxPax thus qualifies for the international final tournament in Jönköping, Sweden. It remains unclear whether he will arrive. So far, the youngster has maintained his anonymity – his first name should be Max, he should be 18 years old and come from Denmark. Not much more is known about MaxPax, last year he even decided not to take part in the World Cup in order to remain anonymous.

The best German of the tournament was Julian “Lambo” Brosig. He made it into the top eight.
