The National Animal Welfare Inspection Service (LID) came to the male after a report to reporting point 144. According to the service, the animal smelled of feces and was probably permanently locked up in the ‘rickety plywood cage’. It is not yet clear how old the animal is and how long it has been locked up, according to a spokesperson for the organization. It is probably a young dog.

No water, no freedom of movement

The chain to which the dog was tied was attached to a tree a little further away, so the animal had no more than thirty centimeters of freedom of movement. He also had no access to water because his water bowl was not in the cage.

The employees who responded to the report immediately took action and confiscated the dog after consultation with the North Holland Public Prosecution Service. The owner will receive a report and the public prosecutor will make a prosecution decision after completion of the investigation.
