RTV Drenthe reporter Robbert Oosting is with his TV series The village of Oet In winnings during the Regional Helden Awards. In the image catcher category, the professional jury chose the Drentse series above The people of Southwest from Omroep West and Drugsuithaler ‘Aziz’ from RTV Rijnmond.
In two other categories, reporters Herma Boer and Petra Wijnsema saw the prizes go to their regional colleagues. Boer was nominated in the Luistervink category for her podcast My father’s ax. Wijnsema stood on the shortlist for her documentary Wolvendrift.
Oosting received his prize during the RegioHelden Festival in Rotterdam, where all regional broadcasters of the Netherlands come together. The idea for his TV series was created by a moped ride towards the city in which he now received the prize. “When I was 17, I had a girlfriend in Rotterdam. I then drove that way with the moped from Drenthe and took it for two days. I have never experienced such a sense of freedom as then. With the series I wanted to find out if more people have experienced such a feeling of freedom through their moped.”
Oosting has made the series in collaboration with Fred van Os and Edwin van Stenis, both also employed at RTV Drenthe.
