In group A heavy home defeats for Renate and Feralpisalò, in B heavy victory for Cesena, while Siena bursts into the playoff area

Midweek round spread over three days: the results of Tuesday dedicated to group C led to the exoneration of Avellino coach Piero Braglia. The program will be completed tomorrow with Juventus U23-Piacenza (group A, at 18) and the two expected postponements of group B: Olbia-Reggiana at 17 and Pescara-Entella at 21. Here is what happened in the matches of this Wednesday 16 February.

GROUP A

Sudtirol’s race finds no obstacles: the leaders also passes on the field of Giana with a goal per time from Tait and De Col, again without conceding a goal and extending the streak of official matches to 30 without losing. Padua, at home, keeps up and remains at minus eight from the top: 2-1 at Lecco, Bifulco and Ronaldo scored (after a great slalom between the opponents) before Ganz’s penalty that ignited the final. Instead, there is an unexpected internal double knockout for the thirds. Renate slipped twice in the second half by AlbinoLeffe (0-2), with Saltarelli and Manconi on the spot. Pro Vercelli also passes on the Feralpisalò field: 3-0 with the unleashed Della Morte who first serves the assist to Comi and then signs his personal double. Triestina wins for the first time in 2022, who finds herself chasing Virtus Verona at Rocco (ahead with Pellacani) and then overturning it (2-1) with Ligi and Galazzi’s liberating goal in the final. Trento also re-emerges from a negative series, passing to Fiorenzuola (2-1) with the noble names of Bocalon – first joy with the new shirt – and Pasquato. Third success in the last four games for Mantova, also here in comeback, on Seregno (3-1): guests ahead at the interval with Marino, then Monachello’s brace with the great goal from Guccione in the middle. Five away victories in total: the Pro Sesto overwhelms the Pro Patria at the Speroni (3-0) and thus leaves the last place to Legnago, 1-1 on the Pergolettese field.

GROUP B

With Reggiana’s eyes on them, Modena took the solitary summit for one evening and returned to victory: 2-0 without discussion at Montevarchi, one goal per half from Scarsella (10 this season) and Minesso. In the 9pm match, Cesena won 3-0 at Del Conero on Ancona Matelica, regaining success and provisional third place: Ciofi, Candela and Pierini scored. Third victory in the last four games for Siena of Padalino who settles in the playoff area: 2-0 at Fermana, which falls to Franchi under the blows of Terigi and Cardoselli. Vis Pesaro also did well: Lucchese beaten 2-1 at Benelli and seventh place, right in front of Siena. The 0-0 at home against Imolese is the sixth draw in a row for Totò Di Natale’s Carrarese, which arrives despite more than one time in numerical superiority. Without a goal also Pontedera-Gubbio. The penalty converted by Volpicelli makes Viterbese win (1-0) the salvation clash of Grosseto: Maremmans stopped at 21 points and now in last place in cohabitation with Pistoiese who takes a precious point in Teramo (1-1) thanks to usually Vano who responds in the second half to Soprano’s advantage from Abruzzo.
