Sergio Ramos wants to continue career at PSG – Real Madrid icon

“L’Équipe” report

His first season at Paris Saint-Germain was more or less one to forget for Sergio Ramos – in the current one the centre-back can usually prove his qualities for the French giants. After major initial difficulties, mainly due to injury, Ramos has arrived at PSG. According to data from “L’Equipe” the 36-year-old, who recently retired from the Spanish national team, wishes a contract extension in Paris.

If the veteran has his way, his club career should be continued, and if possible in the capital Paris. The first talks between the Real Madrid icon and those responsible are said to have already taken place. In these, Ramos clearly stated his intention to stay at PSG. The defender feels good after initially many physical setbacks, he is set in the defensive man. However, there is no hurry for either party, rather the club and Ramos do not want to rush anything, but wait and see how things develop, even though the first half of the season went very satisfactorily.

Ramos gets along well with his team-mates Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi and is recognized in the dressing room and has the great respect of head coach Christophe Galtier. In general, none of the Paris bosses regret Ramos’ commitment. His intention seems clear, although there is said to be strong interest from Saudi Arabia. PSG and the Spaniard agree in principle that they want to continue working together, it is said. According to reports, it now depends on the performance until the end of the season. In early February, L’Équipe reported that PSG was being forced to cut wage bills by 30 percent and be careful with investments. The club is on UEFA’s watch list for financial fair play. In addition to Ramos, the currently injured central defender Presnel Kimpembe (27; contract until 2024) should also sign a new contract.

Ramos could fully focus on his Paris mission with an extension after announcing his permanent retirement in response to a call from national team coach Luis de la Fuente. “With great regret, this is the end of a journey that I had hoped would last longer and end with a better taste in the mouth, on par with all the achievements we have achieved with our national team,” Ramos recently shared with.
