Seniors relive the sixties thanks to live stream in residential care center

Residents of residential care centers heard hits from The Everly Brothers, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and The Hollies, among others. The show was in the Perron, but could also be seen in residential care centers across Flanders and Brussels. Residents also got a look behind the scenes at the artists. Cultuurconnect, the digital support center for the culture and community centers, brought culture and entertainment to seniors in their own familiar environment, because otherwise they wouldn’t get to that performance. (continue reading below the photo)

The live streaming system has often been used during the full corona crisis, but it remains important even after the crisis. “We are grateful that we can organize this with the help of Cultuurconnect in our residential care center,” says Joost Cuvelier, alderman for elderly care in Torhout. There the concert was performed in the Sint-Augustinus residential care center. “In this way, technological evolution contributes to care for the elderly and to breaking the isolation of the elderly.”
