Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are now also audible: With I Said I love you first, the couple releases their first album together – an intimate work with 15 tracks about their relationship, artistic connection and the challenges of growing up in the spotlight.
The album documents the couple’s love story, which seems to have found itself privately but also creatively. According to the official press release, the songs were “organically created – from the trust and security that both feel in common work”. At the end of last year, Gomez and Blanco announced their engagement.
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco for the single “Younger and Hotter Than Me”
The release is accompanied by a music video to the single “Younger and Hotter Than Me”, which shows Selena Gomez on an abandoned studio site – the clip is a visual journey through your childhood in the show business. The melancholic mood of the clip reflects the pressure and loneliness that are accompanied by celebrity earlier.
“At some point, people will find new things they love. You stay back, somewhere between fame and forget,” says Benny Blanco in the accompanying Behind-the scenes video. Gomez adds: “I was never good at parties. I am socially awkward, sit in the corner and speak to the one person who is alone. This song catches up with exactly this feeling.”
The duo had already released three singles in advance: “Scared of Loving You” (written with Finneas), the bittersweet duet “Call Me When You Break Up” with Gracie Abrams and “Sunset BLVD”. Charli XCX is also represented on the album – she wrote the song “Bluest Flame”. A special reunion, because even with Selena Gomez ‘hit “Same Old Love” over ten years ago, Blanco was in the studio with Charli.
