Seidel skips the upcoming short track season

Short tracker Anna Seidel will take a break from competitions in the coming season. The 25-year-old from Dresden announced this on social media.

After more than a decade of intense competition and daily training, she realized some time ago “that I’ve reached a point of physical and, above all, mental exhaustion,” wrote the two-time EM second in 2021 on Instagram. That’s why she wants to skip the upcoming season.

She wants to take the time “to find that spark that has driven me forward in recent years,” added Seidel. She is looking forward to her “future journey on and off the ice”.

Seidel has taken part in three Winter Olympics in her career so far, and she was 15 when she premiered in 2014 in Sochi, Russia. At that time she was considered an exceptional talent in her sport.
