“A great success, the roof went off at every performance,” is how organizer Albertje Sok describes the third edition of the Dragqueen Show in Westerbork.
Several prominent figures from Drenthe and well-known Westerborkers were transformed into drag queens this weekend and showed their best side on stage. Previous winners were RTV Drenthe presenter Wim Boer and the catering industry executive Sander Vos, who died this year.
The main prize, a drag bar, went to Bert Rossing of the Huus van de Taol this edition. Other participants included singer Martije, director of the Drenthe Safety Region Fred Heerink and councilor in Central Drenthe Jan Schippers.
With the Dragqueen show, the initiators and participants want to convey that all people can be who they want to be.
