Security man sings along with Taylor Swift – fired!

It was only announced a few days ago that Taylor Swift was paying her employees on the “Eras” tour a million-dollar bonus. If the singer has a few bucks left – and the success of her current concert tour suggests so – she might want to save them for Calvin Denker.

Calvin who? TickTok users may know the Minnesota security guard. He sang along to Taylor Swift’s song “Cruel Summer” at a concert, filmed himself doing it and posted it on the social media platform. The clip went viral and was seen by millions of fans worldwide.

As Denker now also announced on TikTok, the moment of happiness also had negative consequences for him. He was fired from his employer. However, not because he accompanied Taylor Swift vocally. Rather, security firm BEST was concerned that Denker allegedly passed notes to the crowd asking them to take a picture whenever Swift was visible in the background.

“The human resources woman who called me wasn’t able to say what exactly I did wrong because all I did was ask for photos,” Denker said. He himself only applied to the company in order to be able to attend a concert by the singer at some point. On August 12, just as Ed Sheeran was performing, Denker was over. In his video on TikTok, he indicated that he had been unfairly fired. The terms and conditions of his security company stipulate that you are not allowed to take photos at concerts yourself, but he only asked for photos of other visitors.

“I never took out my own phone and most importantly made sure Taylor Swift was safe and all the fans were having a good time,” Denker added. He himself – that seems important to him – has no grudge against his ex-bread giver. After all, he had also fulfilled a lifelong dream.
