Second suspect arrested for involvement in death of Cas Steenbergen

The police have arrested a second suspect in the investigation surrounding the death of Cas Steebergen from De Schiphorst. It concerns an 18-year-old man from De Wolden. The police reported yesterday that they had arrested a 20-year-old suspect.

The suspect is in full restrictions and is only allowed to contact his lawyer. The police will interrogate him and his role is being investigated.

The 23-year-old Steenbergen came home injured from the equestrian event CH De Wolden in Veeningen last July. The next day he ended up in a coma, and he died a month later.

In a broadcast of Investigation Requested Extensive attention was paid to Steenbergen’s death earlier this month. As a result of that broadcast, sixteen tips were received. The police initially assumed it was a fatal accident, but reopened the investigation at the beginning of this month because new information had been received. It is now assumed that Steenbergen was abused when he wanted to go home.
