BVB sports director Kehl is apparently extending his contract

There has been speculation for a long time, but now it is apparently a done deal: Sebastian Kehl should extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund.
As the TV channel Sky and “Bild” both report, Sebastian Kehl is extending his contract as sports director at Borussia Dortmund. Accordingly, the official should soon sign a new working paper until 2027. His current contract runs until June of this year.
As “Bild” reports, there were two more discussions this week between managing director Lars Ricken and Kehl and now everything should be clear. According to Sky, the extension had already dragged on for several weeks. A signing was supposed to take place before Christmas, but was postponed at the time. Now the speculation is probably over.
Kehl has been sports director at BVB since July 2022 and was previously head of the licensing department (2018 to 2022). He also played for the club from 2002 to 2015.
In terms of sport, Dortmund is currently in sixth place in the table and has 25 points. Bayern are currently eleven points short of leaders. BVB wants to reach the Champions League places this season, that is the clear goal. The start after the winter break is against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday (from 8.30 p.m. in the t-online live ticker).
Coach Nuri Şahin said about the opening opponent: “I’m happy that it’s against Leverkusen, it’s a top game and a benchmark.” Kehl demands of his team: “We have to be sharp right from the start and I expect every player to use every training session to get into their best condition and shape.”
