A 32-year-old man from Zuidwolde was arrested after an accident this morning at Staphorst. Together with a 20-year-old man from Sneek, he ran away after the accident.
Around half past eight this morning a car ended up on the Gemeenteweg in Staphorst. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The occupants of the car were no longer present when the police arrived.
With the help of a helicopter and a Burgernet, the two people were searched for. The men were arrested before leaving the scene of the accident. The 32-year-old man from Zuidwolde was the driver. A saliva test was taken with him, it was positive.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident and are also investigating driving under the influence and reckless driving behavior.
