Milan was last seen yesterday on the Debora Bakelaan in Heemskerk. The boy went outside for a walk, but did not return home. He may have left on foot in the direction of Wijkerstraatweg in Velsen-Noord.

At the request of the police, the Veterans Search Team searched for him yesterday afternoon in the woods of Velsen-Noord. That search turned up nothing, after which the search was scaled up.

Three search teams were deployed today, police spokesperson Erwin Sintenie said. The search area has also been expanded: the police are now searching the entire area between Velsen-Noord and Heemskerk, including the city parks in between.

Born in Ukraine

According to Sintenie, the boy was born in Ukraine. The Noord-Hollands Dagblad reports that he is staying in a apartment complex where Ukrainians who have fled are received. The police therefore also shared the missing person report in Ukrainian on social media. “We hope to reach his fellow speakers so that they can share tips with us,” the spokesperson said. A number of tips have now been received and are being investigated.

It is also known that the boy is approximately 1.80 to 1.90 meters tall and has medium-length brown hair. He is also mentally disabled and has difficulty speaking. “But he is not on any medication, so fortunately that is not an additional hurdle.”

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a green jacket with a camouflage print, dark blue sweatpants and black sneakers. The police ask people who have seen the boy to contact 112.
