Search for missing Celine Cremer (31) on the island of Tasmania continues under water | News

In the search for Belgian tourist Celine Cremer (31), who has been missing on the island of Tasmania for more than two weeks, the police will search under water. The tourist was last seen on June 17 in Waratah, a town about ten kilometers from the falls where she may have disappeared. Her car was found in the parking lot on the walk to the waterfall.

The Liège woman was reported missing last week. The family was concerned for her well-being as there had been no contact for some time. Céline Cremer’s car has been parked in the parking lot where the walk to the waterfall starts since June 20. That same day, her cell phone sent out the last signal.

The police already carried out a major search last week, but it yielded little result. The hope of finding the woman alive is small. Celine Cremer (31) has now been missing for more than two weeks on the island of Tasmania, in weather conditions that the police say are “unsurvivable”.

Snow and rain

“Unfortunately, no further traces of Celine have been found since her car was found in the Philosopher Falls parking lot on Tuesday, June 27,” said Anthea Maingay of the police. “Weather conditions were challenging, with the search team experiencing freezing temperatures, snow, rain and high winds.”

“Tomorrow, we will use more resources to search the fast-flowing water in the area,” the police announced. “We are doing this in an effort to find answers for Celine’s family before we begin to scale back the search.”

“Lost or Fallen”

One of the Australian Police’s main leads is that Céline got lost while walking alone to Philosopher Falls. She probably got lost or fell.

Until now, the police mainly searched on and on the hiking trail to the waterfall and in the woods along the path. Drones were also used to scan the site from the air.
