SCR Altach separates from coach Miroslav Klose: 9 games without a win

Despite a draw against Salzburg

The 1-1 draw at leaders Red Bull Salzburg was a respectable win for SCR Altach in the Bundesliga relegation battle, but coach Miroslav Klose didn’t save the job. The 44-year-old was released from his duties at Vorarlberg on Monday, one day after the draw.

“Miroslav Klose gave everything from the first to the last day and it was a huge experience to have seen him as a coach and, above all, as a person in Altach. I would like to thank Miro and his assistant coach Slaven Skeledzic for the work they have done. Even if a change of coach always hurts a lot, the most important thing is that SCR Altach will also be represented in the Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season,” said managing director Christoph Längle.

Klose took over Altach last summer and was last without a win in nine games in a row. In the relegation round, the club is in last place with eight points, which would mean going into the second division. “In the course of our analysis, we came to the decision that the team needed a new impetus to achieve our goal of staying up, to which we subordinate everything else. Miroslav has all the prerequisites to celebrate great success as a coach. I would like to express my gratitude to Miroslav for the cooperation, in which the interests of the club have always been the focus,” added sporting director Georg Festetics.
