SCYTUNOSTRO
Type: Bildungsroman ✦✦✦
Direction: Leandro Picarella. With Giovanni Cardamone, Ettore Pesaresi, Pino Sorrentino
Ettore and Giovanni are friends, they live in Linosa and for them summer is a magic of games, swimming and discoveriesbetween parched land and abandoned houses. For Ettore, however, the one recorded by the film is the last summer. The parents have decided to move to the mainland so that he can continue his schooling.
Picarella tells the story of the end of childhood and the moment in which life puts us face to face with the first choice – to stay or leaveabandon, perhaps forever, those who are dearest to us – who decide everyone’s future.
Giovanni Cardamone and Ettore Pesaresi in the film “Sciatunostro”
The burden of memory is borne by a local filmmaker who, since the 1970s, has been archiving the history of the island and its inhabitants, to which this last piece is added.
