The DFB legends Bastian Schweinsteiger and Philipp Lahm have strengthened exceptional skills Florian Wirtz after his difficult start at Liverpool FC.

“We should be happy that we have such a player in Germany. We have to give the player a bit of time,” said Schweinsteiger on the sidelines of his admission to the “Hall of Fame” of German football in the German Football Museum in Dortmund.

Wirtz is a “fantastic footballer” and “great character”, said Schweinsteiger. The 22-year-old does not really get going in the Premier League after moving from Leverkusen and is still without a goal. For Lahm, however, no reason to panic.

“I’m not worried about Florian Wirtz at all,” said Lahm, DFB captain at the 2014 World Cup triumph in Rio de Janeiro: “Quality and class always prevail. And this will be absolutely the case with Florian Wirtz.”

Schweinsteiger, who also also switched from the Bundesliga to the Premier League to Manchester United, is certain: “He will surely delight us all in the future.”
