Schreuder after defeat at AZ: “It was an intense game”

Ajax has lost a match in the Eredivisie for the first time this season. AZ was 2-1 too strong tonight. Alfred Schreuder thinks that Ajax should have equalized in the last twenty minutes. “AZ was just brighter”, says the Ajax coach afterwards at the press conference.

During the entire match there were mutual irritations between the players of AZ and Ajax. “Of course you should not end up in riots if you are behind, because that is only time gain for AZ,” Schreuder knows.

Remko Pasveer

Goalkeeper Pasveer was one of the best players on the field against AZ, but the 38-year-old keeper is not happy with that. Because in the end he couldn’t prevent the team from Amsterdam losing 2-1 in Alkmaar. “I had the most contact with the ball in the first half, but that’s not what we want,” he says at the press conference. “We just got a bit of a despondent feeling that the ball won’t fly in,” said Pasveer.

Due to the defeat, Ajax has to leave the lead to PSV. After the international break, the reigning champions resume the Eredivisie with a home game against Go Ahead Eagles.
