cover up

According to our source, previous bullying incidents, also involving other victims, have always been covered up by the school. But now the images are shared en masse on social media and the school had to intervene. Director Griet Wens says that the incident concerned an argument that got out of hand between a total of four young people. “Both Tuesday and Wednesday, we as management took our responsibility in a decisive manner. The perpetrators have been suspended and the victim was immediately taken care of and accompanied,” she says. “Since this concerns minors on the one hand and out of respect for and in the interest of the victim on the other, we as management acted in a discreet manner, in consultation with the parents of all involved, the police, the school psychologist, the CLB and our own staff. student guidance.”

The management deeply regrets the incident. “This seriously transgressive act is at odds with the vision and the pedagogical project of our school, in which we prioritize a safe, warm and positive school climate for everyone. We are not blind to bullying and in such situations always act in accordance with our own anti-bullying policy, for which we won the Flemish prize in 2019 in the ‘Bullying is not possible’ competition”, says Wens. “At the moment an investigation is ongoing at the school and at the police. We wish to be able to deal with this very unfortunate incident with those involved in all serenity and with the greatest discretion.”
