Schalke’s Alex Kral is allowed to switch to Union Berlin – Gladbach too

Contract in Moscow still on hold

FIFA has extended and adjusted the special transfer regulations for foreign players and coaches from Ukrainian and Russian clubs. Players such as former Schalke loan player Alex Kral can now suspend their contracts until the end of the coming 2023/24 season. Anyone who is currently still active with a Russian or Ukrainian club or, like Malcom, who is traded with PSG, has even extended, is excluded from the regulation.

Updated at 7:50 p.m: How transfer market learned, in addition to the Champions League aspirants Union Berlin, who are traded as buyers, Borussia Mönchengladbach is also interested in a commitment from Kral to Schalke after the end of the loan. Accordingly, the “foals” even have a much more interesting offer to offer financially. According to our information, staying with the S04 for a longer period of time is still an issue.

Anyone who has left Ukraine or Russia because of the ongoing war and does not want to return can unilaterally suspend their contract with the approval of the world association without having to fear a penalty from the association. FIFA introduced this regulation before the start of the current season. A new condition for the following season is that the person concerned must have informed the club with which they are under contract by the official start of the season on 1 July 2023.

What is new in the updated FIFA regulations is that all foreign players and coaches who were registered with a Ukrainian or Russian club this season now have to stay or can only transfer via a normal transfer. This affects players who have switched to one of the associations since the beginning of the season, have extended their stay there or simply have not made use of the special rule. This does not apply to Schalke’s Kral, who came to Gelsenkirchen from Spartak Moscow on a special rule at the beginning of the season. The Czech is said to be moving to Union Berlin, for which FIFA has now given the green light.
