Schalke professional Boujellab is moving to Helsinki

Gelsenkirchen (dpa) – Nassim Boujellab, who is under contract with FC Schalke 04, joins the Finnish first division club HJK Helsinki with immediate effect.

As the second division soccer club from Gelsenkirchen announced, the 22-year-old will be loaned out to the Finnish capital by FC Ingolstadt until the end of the season. “FC Schalke 04 will continue this loan after the midfielder’s contractually agreed return in the summer. This gives him the opportunity to gain match practice in Helsinki until the end of the year,” said Schalke in a statement. The season in Finland starts at the beginning of April.

From 2015 to 2019, Boujellab went through all the teams at Schalke’s “Knappenschmiede”. He spent the past six months on loan at league rivals FC Ingolstadt, who parted ways with the midfielder in January for disciplinary reasons. Overall, Boujellab has 30 Bundesliga appearances for FC Schalke 04 and eight games in the second division for FC Ingolstadt. His contract with the Revierclub runs until 2023.
