Schalke 04 apparently brings the son of football legend Henrik Larsson

In addition to the edgy strikers Sebastian Polter and Simon Terodde, Schalke was looking for other types for the offensive. Now the club has probably found what they are looking for.

Schalke 04 is apparently about to transfer striker Jordan Larsson. This is reported by the well-informed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano. The 25-year-old Swede is available on a free transfer after ending his contract with Spartak Moscow amid Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. The international is the son of football legend Henrik Larsson (104 caps, 37 goals).

According to Romano, the striker should be in agreement with Schalke as far as possible, only details have yet to be clarified. Larsson is traveling to Germany on Thursday to complete the medical check.

Strong performances under Domenico Tedesco

With the 1.75 meter tall attacker, Schalke will have a fast and versatile striker who likes to switch to the flanks and has also played in attacking midfield. This makes him a good addition to the penalty area strikers Simon Terodde and Sebastian Polter, who still had problems playing together in preparation and were more of a hindrance than a complement.

Larsson scored 23 goals and provided 9 assists in 51 competitive games in his first two years at Spartak – under Domenico Tedesco. Since Tedesco’s departure, Larsson has increasingly struggled to find goals. In April he moved back to Sweden on loan from Spartak, playing for first division side AIK Solna. He has been without a club since July. That should change in the near future.

An appearance in Schalke’s season debut against 1. FC Köln next Sunday (from 5.30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) would in all likelihood be too early.
