“Scarecrow” from 1985 appears as a deluxe remake

John Mellencamp’s Scarecrow album will be released on November 4, 2022 as a deluxe reissue. In addition to remaster versions of the songs, there are also many previously unreleased tracks and alternative versions. You can already hear the song “Small Town” in three versions: as a remaster, demo and acoustic version.

The album will be released as a 2-CD version, LP box and digital – or as a combined 2CD+Blu-ray+LP Super Deluxe Edition. There is also a booklet with rare photos and new liner notes by music critic Anthony DeCurtis.

Scarecrow is Mellencamp’s eighth album and was originally released in 1985. It reached #2 on the US album charts. “For him, ‘Scarecrow’ is about creating an album that is not about John Cougar Mellencamp – but about, yes indeed, AMERICA,” wrote critic Jon Pareles in the New York Times on the release. “He wants to pay tribute to the workers in the interior, to break a lance for the less than glamorous life.”
