Scammed twice, now homeless. How former alderman Christophe Verdonck ended up in the gutter: “Most nights I sleep in the toilets of the station”

He was once an alderman for the municipality of Mol and earned 15,000 euros net per month. But then he got scammed, and now he has nothing. Since then, Christophe Verdonck (51) has been living on the street. He carries everything he owns in a shopping cart and sleeps in a station toilet. “That person from NMBS who brings me a cup of coffee every morning: that is the highlight of the day.”
