A contractor hit a medium pressure pipe during excavation work. The residents of a number of nearby homes were evacuated. Eight people are being sheltered nearby.
The leak had not yet been stopped around 2:45 PM, but according to Mayor Karolien Damman, who is on site, there is no danger.
Grid operator Fluvius arrives on site to close the leak.
