An electric scale model of a medium-sized passenger plane caught fire tonight on the grounds of the Netherlands Aerospace Center in Amsterdam South.

The fire brigade was called to the Anthony Fokkerweg shortly after 6 p.m. According to the fire service, the fire may have started in the aircraft’s wiring or battery. The fire brigade managed to extinguish the fire, but could not prevent the scale model from being seriously damaged. No one was injured.

It concerns a scale model of four by four meters that is used to conduct research into climate-neutral flying. The aircraft in question made more than a year ago his first flight. The scale model was developed by a team of European research centers and industry.
