Noah Atubolu has achieved a lot at the age of 22. On Saturday he was able to look forward to a special record.

“It would be a lie if I said I hadn’t had it in my head before the game,” said Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu after the 0-0 against RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old cracked a record on Saturday afternoon-that of the former SC keeper Richard Golz. Atubolu has not conceded a goal for 576 minutes and thus broke the club’s best from 509 minutes from the 2000/01 season.

Atubolu emphasized that he was “grateful” and added: “And I am also proud to be honest because I didn’t always have an easy time here.” He also expressed his thanks to his defenders.

Since the 1-2 defeat against FC Bayern Munich at the end of January, Atubolu has not conceded a goal. For SC Freiburg it was the first time that the team remained without a goal in six consecutive competitive games. Atubolu has been in the box since last season and has a top form after initial criticism of him.
