Satou Sabally made it into the starting lineup for the Allstar Game for the first time thanks to her strong performances in the professional basketball league WNBA. The Berliner will be at the show game on July 15 in Las Vegas for the second time after 2021.
The Berliner from the Dallas Wings is one of the ten players who received the most votes in the Allstars election. This was announced by the WNBA on Sunday. Sabally (25), whose younger sister Nyara (23) also plays as a WNBA pro for New York Liberty, has an average of 19.5 points after 13 seasons.
Satou Sabally decided not to play in the national team at the successful European Championships because she is in her last year under contract in Dallas and wants to recommend herself for a new engagement. The German team finished sixth in Slovenia and booked a ticket to an Olympic qualifying tournament.
US star player Brittney Griner, who is back for Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA after her long imprisonment in Russia, was also voted into the starting five. Captains are A’ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces) and Breanna Stewart (New York Liberty).
