He Sao Paulo announced this Friday the signing of Brazilian striker Alexandre Patowho is recovering from a serious knee injury.

This will be the third stage in Sao Paulo for the former player of the Brazilian team, who will be linked to the club until the end of 2023.

Pato is recovering from an operation on the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee that he underwent in September 2022, when he was playing for the Orlando City American League (MLS).

The 33-year-old player was undergoing the recovery process at Sao Paulo, which is playing in the Copa Sudamericana and is currently in eighth position in the Brazilian Championship after seven rounds.

The club’s president, Júlio Casares, said in a statement that he has no doubts that Pato will be available to the coaching staff “soon” and expressed his confidence that a player of his quality “will be very useful to the squad.”

Pato said that he hopes to return “all the love” to Sao Paulo and assured that he was motivated to sign for the club “out of love.”

Alexandre Pato’s career at Sao Paulo began in 2014, when he joined the club on loan from Corinthians, during which time the striker played 101 games, scored 38 goals and provided 16 assists.

Between 2019 and 2020, in his second stage, he had more discreet records, 35 games and nine goals scored.

Alexandre Pato trained at the Brazilian International and made his leap to Europe in the ranks of the Milan (2007-2013), with whom he won an Italian league.

Later he ended up in teams like Chelsea (2016) and Villarreal (2016-17).
