Santos: We only had our jerseys on the field

Beşiktaş defeated Antalyaspor 2-1 away in the last 16 rounds of the Ziraat Turkish Cup.

Falling behind 1-0 in the match, the black-whites managed to get their name into the quarter-finals with Muleka’s goals.

Black-whites coach Fernando Santos made a statement after the match.

Here are Santos’ statements…

“We were not on the field in the first half, we did not play ball. We only had our jerseys on the field. It was very bad. It could have been different. We did what we had to do in the second half. We fought very well. We reacted very well. I can say that we deserved the result with our play in the second half. But I am not happy with the first half.”

“For me, it doesn’t matter whether you are young or old. Age is not important to me. Whoever trains well and whose performance shows wins the jersey.”

TRANSFER WORDS

“I am here to work, not to bring in new players. This is an issue that the management is interested in. I am the coach, I cannot answer this question or comment.”

JOE WORRALL

“It’s only been 3-4 days since he came. He needs adaptation. I can’t comment on that. He did his best in 2 minutes.”
