It’s busy for Christmas tree sellers today. Santa is out of the country and that means the Christmas tree can be brought back into the house. Seller Sander Drogt from Tiendeveen will remove the last trees from the ground this morning, because he expects crowds.

Armed with a shovel in one hand and a smile on his face, Drogt walks through the field behind his house. He chooses a beautiful Christmas tree and, after some digging, pulls it out of the ground. This will then be placed with the Christmas trees that go on sale. The fact that they are popular is evident from the visitors, little by little it is becoming busier.

“I always find it difficult how many people come in one day, especially because families come by to choose a tree together,” says Drogt. “But on a day like today, even with less weather, I think we still sell about eighty.”

And he doesn’t sell just one type of tree, he has a range of different types. “Yes, you have to,” the seller laughs. “Many people already think about what kind of tree they want at home, so I have them all here. They often want one that doesn’t itch so much.”
