Sandro Wagner has already announced his farewell to the DFB where he is going, but not yet. Now he seems to have made a decision.

The fact that Sandro Wagner is leaving the German Football Association (DFB) has been clear for a few weeks. The 37-year-old, currently an assistant to national coach Julian Nagelsmann, stops after the final four tournament in the Nations League in June-and will apparently devote himself to another task. He won’t be one of his former clubs.

As the Pay TV Sky reports, Wagner canceled TSG Hoffenheim. Negotiations are said to have taken place with the Kraichgauer. Apparently Wagner, who played in Hoffenheim between 2016 and 2017, was even considered a desired candidate in the head coaching position for the coming season.

Christian Ilzer is currently training the TSG. The Austrian, only in office since November 2024, has so far not been able to get the team on track in terms of sport. Hoffenheim is currently only in 15th place in the table.

According to the report, other Bundesliga clubs are said to have been on Wagner – one of them apparently with success. Wagner is said to have reached an agreement with a club from the German Oberhaus. It is not known which association it is. But the fact is: RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg are looking for a new coach for the coming season. Just like Bayer 04 Leverkusen, where coach Xabi Alonso will leave the club towards Real Madrid.

At TSG Hoffenheim, another candidate focuses on. If the club separates from Ilzer, Lukas Kwasniok would be an option for the TSG according to Sky. The 43-year-old stops at the second division team SC Paderborn, but could start the Bundesliga with the East Westphalia beforehand.
