The mayor Sala will speak in the city council tomorrow: he should remain in the saddle, with the postponement of the resolution on the stadium. The club must arrive by deed by November 10: on paper, there is still time

20 July – 22:51 – MILAN

San Siro cannot rest even in July. In these days of vacation, the stadium has become the protagonist of the Milanese and national policy. The mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, is expected in the city council tomorrow, where he will speak for the first time after the investigation for which the Milan prosecutor asked for house arrest for six people, including the councilor for Urban Planning, Giancarlo Tancredi, the former president of the landscape commission, Giuseppe Marinoni, and one of the major Italian real estate, Manfredi Catella. Sala is one of the 74 suspects.

Room goes on

Room today, in the late afternoon, met a delegation from the Milanese Democratic Party. The Hair Secretary, at the end, released a note: “It was a constructive meeting. As a delegation we reiterated to the mayor the support and support of the Democratic Party, confirming the mayor the need for signs of change to respond to the new needs of the city”. In short, the commissioner Tancredi should leave but in tomorrow’s meeting, unless unthinkable night turns, will announce that he wants to continue, he will explain his point of view on the investigation and announce the priorities for the next two years (scarce) in a programmatic speech in a first citizen from the first citizen. This is the point, for Inter and Milan. The sale of the stadium to the two clubs is in the front row: by room it is a passage of primary importance, linked double -thread to its stay at Palazzo Marino. The mayor will continue, as long as he has political support on the sale of the plant.

The postponement in September

So what will happen to San Siro now? The Municipality has basically found an agreement with Inter and Milan for the sale of the plant for 197 million, with the participation of the Municipality in some costs. That agreement must be approved in the council and then to the Council. If Sala had resigned, the project would have jumped and everything would return to the past: Milan in San Donato, Inter who knows (perhaps right in San Donato with Milan). With room still in the saddle, it is almost certainly a postponement. The idea, until a week ago, was to approve everything by 31 July. Now it has been understood that the approvals – certainly that of the Council, perhaps also that of the junta – will postpone in September. However, the sale to clubs remains possible.

The times for the stadium

In fact, Inter and Milan must acquire the ownership of the stadium and the neighboring areas by 10 November, when the second ring turns 70 years old, a moment that will trigger the cultural bond and the consequent impossibility of demolishing it. In short, the weather is: imagining an approval in the Council in early September, there would be two months to finalize the financing with the banks and get to the deed.

Obstacles

Of course, the question marks are different, starting with the green light of the city council. 48 councilors (therefore with a majority set at 25) and 31 are part of the government area sit at Palazzo Marino. Five of them, however, have already expressed a negative opinion during the process, prediting the vote against. So on San Siro the majority is on the wire and a possible rejection would ship the project. Is there the possibility that the green light will come with the favorable vote of some opposition councilors? Yes, but the fact would have logical political consequences. And then, however it goes, to approval, many appeals would follow that would aim to declare the nullity of the sale, with the imaginable involvement of competent courts and judges. A race for obstacles. San Siro, in parallel, will live his life. The games. The opening ceremony of the winter games of February 6. The project for the new stadium, which the clubs have entrusted to Manica and Norman Foster. The voting in the municipal classrooms and the objections of lawyers in court will be a distant noise, but it is from there that his future will pass.
