Samantha Steenwijk and Danny de Munk are pulling SBS 6 down

SBS 6 continues to disappoint with De Hollandse Nieuwe, the TV show with the unpopular celebrities Danny de Munk, Samantha Steenwijk and Jeroen van der Boom. They fail to please the viewer.

One thing is for sure: at SBS 6 they don’t know at all which television stars are good for TV-watching Netherlands and which ones are really unappealing. The result is zapping viewers. The talent show De Hollandse Nieuwe, with Samantha Steenwijk and the discredited Danny de Munk, has also been a viewing figure flop for weeks.

Danny and Samantha

After The Hunting Season (474 thousand viewers and 13 percent market share), De Hollandse Nieuwe only had 387 thousand viewers (10 percent) left yesterday. As a result, the talent show failed to achieve a place in the daily top 15 viewership and that is quite disappointing for such a large-scale program full of ‘stars’.

Viewership professor Tina Nijkamp also points out the scores in the commercial target group (20 to 54 years old). Where The Hunting Season almost reaches 22 percent, De Hollandse Nieuwe has to settle for 9 percent. “And that while it is largely on (…) the ‘easiest time slot of the week’: Saturday evening from 9.30 pm to 10.30 pm.”

SBS 6 still has to bite through the sour apple, because there are still two episodes of De Hollandse Nieuwe on the menu.

Matthijs on one

Matthijs van Nieuwkerk scored 1.1 million viewers (28 percent) with The Connection yesterday, with which he was good for gold at prime time. Afterwards, De Avondetappe also did very well with 975 thousand viewers (26%). A beautiful evening for NPO 1.

RTL 4 managed to captivate only 503 thousand viewers (14%) with the final of Domino Challenge, after which De 1 Percent Quiz reached 559 thousand viewers (16%).

“Better in the winter?”

Tina thinks a toy show like Domino Challenge doesn’t really fit in the summer. The commercial market share of the final is 20 percent. “In itself an excellent market share, but the least market share of the entire RTL 4 evening.”

She continues: “Especially the opening episodes scored well. Perhaps better in the second season to do the competition structure something different and / or slightly fewer episodes. And this type of program doesn’t fit better in the winter, does it?”

Viewing figures

Other programs that did not make the top 15 include Nieuwsuur (393 thousand), EenVandaag (314 thousand) and Lachen Om Home Videos (249 thousand).
