Sam Hagens exchanged the cozy pub table of Today Inside for the public broadcaster, where we don’t hear much from him anymore. Is there a new transfer coming, possibly to RTL 4?

The switch from SBS 6 to WNL undoubtedly did not turn out to be what Sam Hagens had hoped for. The presenter, who made a name for himself among commercial people as a regular face at Today Inside and a reporter at Hart van Nederland, currently mainly does Goedemorgen Nederland. A decent morning program, but not very controversial.

Sam vs Thomas

The fact that Sam can again fill in this year as presenter of the summer Pauw & De Wit substitute offers some distraction, but last year the reception of that program was a bit disappointing. All in all, these are jobs that keep his name in the air, but not jobs that define a career. Is he jealous of Thomas van Groningen?

Thomas took the opposite route – from WNL to SBS – and that was the leap that gave his career wings. He now does News of the Day, is the permanent replacement for Hélène Hendriks and is also an important link at Today Inside. His career is going well sky high.

Next step

The question arises: does Sam still have a big step in him, or is this the ceiling? That topic was also discussed last night The Orange Sundaywhere a possible RTL adventure was carefully mentioned. At RTL 4 they are looking for a talk show host who can alternate with Renze Klamer, now that he is at odds with the rest of the RTL stable.

Rutger Castricum wonders out loud whether getting up early for Sam isn’t a bit of an issue now. “I think you had to get up early at some point. Isn’t there a place for you at RTL somewhere?”

“I’m fine!”

Sam responds diplomatically. “RTL? Well, I’m perfectly fine with WNL. I’m going to present Goedenavond Nederland all summer long.”

Rutger: “But did they call?”

Sam: “No, I’ve just been at WNL for a year and a half.”

Hélène Hendriks: “It would be a nice step, by the way.”

Smile

Studio guest Noa Vahle finds Sam’s non-verbal communication a bit suspicious. “You do have a smile and a blush!”, she notes.

Hélène finally: “Yes, it would be a nice step if it were like that?”

Then the subject is quickly cut off. Are we dealing here with the new Renze raid? Time will tell.
