Salih Özcan hardly makes any appearances at Borussia Dortmund. His contract expires in the summer. Maybe the Turk will change in the winter.
The Turkish top club Beşiktaş Istanbul is apparently pursuing Salih Özcan. As the Turkish media “Sözcü” has learned, the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is about to move to Turkey. The clubs have already agreed that Özcan will move to Beşiktaş for three million euros.
“Fanatik” didn’t want to go quite that far yesterday, Thursday. Nevertheless, this medium also reports on the interest of the “black eagles”, as Beşiktaş is also called. Accordingly, it is expected that the Turkish club will make an offer for Özcan, as reinforcements for the midfield center are urgently needed.
In any case, BVB would probably not put any obstacles in Özcan’s way. In the current season he only made four short appearances in Dortmund and hardly plays a role under Niko Kovač. His contract expires in the summer and an extension is considered impossible.
The 27-year-old has been under contract in Dortmund since the summer of 2022 and moved from Cologne to the black and yellow for five million euros. Last season he was loaned out to VfL Wolfsburg for six months, but hardly played a role for Lower Saxony either.
The fact that Özcan still hopes to take part in the World Cup could speak for a change. Turkey is still fighting for its ticket to the tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada in the UEFA playoffs in March. The central midfielder is currently part of the Turkish squad. But if he spends more time on the Dortmund bench, his place in coach Vincenzo Montella’s team could be shaky. Therefore, Özcan will probably not be averse to a move to Istanbul.
