US online fashion retailer Saks has appointed Alicia Williams as Vice President, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). In her new role, she is a new member of the ESG team and will be responsible for driving the execution of DEI’s goals and developing forward-looking strategy in those areas, said the company, which forms part of retailer Saks Fifth’s e-commerce division Avenue emerged on Monday in a statement.
According to her new employer, Williams has more than 15 years of experience in her area of responsibility. Most recently, she was Executive Director, Head of Diversity & Inclusion for US Banks at financial firm Morgan Stanley. Prior to that, she held various management positions at the bank JPMorgan Chase & Co. and at various US universities.
Sarah Garber, Saks Chief Human Resources Officer, explained the rationale for the appointment: “Delivering on our DEI commitments and ensuring an inclusive culture is a priority for our leadership team and across our business as it is key to a great place to work and the best offerings for our diverse customers and partners,” she explained in a statement. “Alicia has an exceptional track record of launching and executing DEI initiatives. We look forward to benefiting from their in-depth expertise as we continue to scale up our efforts across the business, building on the progress already made.”
