The Askoy II arrived in Blankenberge around noon. The legendary ship Meert for the sailmaker of the Wittevrongel family. Jacques Brel had the sails made here before he left on a world trip. In 2005 the Wittwrongel brothers bought the wreck. In 2015 they started the restoration and now the Askoy is finally ready for sailing.
This afternoon the trip continues to Ostend, where the Askoy can be admired at the Maritime event ‘Ostend for Anker’. Next week the ship will return to Blankenberge for the harbor parties.
