Sahara dust provides beautiful pictures above Brabant

Sahara dust, which is supplied by a strong wind blowing over the desert, provided beautiful pictures in Brabant on Wednesday morning. Later in the afternoon, dust from northwest Africa heading our way via Spain and France will also create clouds. That’s what weatherwoman Diana Woei of Weerplaza says.

It won’t last long. It will rain on Wednesday night and with it the dust will also come down from the air. “You will find a thin layer of dust from this tomorrow morning. The only inconvenience is that people might have to wash their cars,” Woei added.

Earlier this week, weatherman Raymond Klaasen from Weerplaza explained how that dust gets here.

The fact that Sahara dust is coming our way is the result of an active depression in Spain and northwestern Africa. “It ensures that there is a lot of wind over the Sahara”, says Raymond. “This stirs up the dust to great heights. Then it can come here with the southern disturbance.”
