Sabine was at a loss. Exactly a week ago, her Disney store in Helmond was destroyed by an explosion. The facade was broken, cuddly toys were on the street and there was glass everywhere. After a week of clearing the rubble, she opened the doors again on Sunday morning. “Half the store was broken. I’m so happy that I can open again for the holidays.”
Customers are coming and going in Sabine’s store on Sunday. Some come to buy something, but in any case everyone comes to support her. And Sabine clearly does that well. “People spontaneously give me a hug or come to say they are happy that I am open again. And my house is full of flowers.”
After a week, Sabine still doesn’t know why there was an attack on her shop. “I really have no idea where this came from. But I hope the perpetrator is caught quickly.”

Over the past few days, Sabine has worked hard with family and friends to make the store beautiful again. And that wasn’t easy. “There was glass and rubble everywhere. We had to clean it all up. There were fifteen people working from early in the morning until late at night. And we had to check all the stuff. Even in a cuddly toy that wasn’t even close to When the exploded facade was standing, we still found a shard of glass.”
“Really heart-warming, all customers sympathize.”
The normally beautiful shop window is now not visible. It is finished with wooden partitions because the new facade cannot be delivered until February. But inside the store it is almost as usual. “Many of the statues and cuddly toys that were in the shop window came from England. They are therefore difficult to replace. Fortunately, we still had some stock in the warehouse. So I have now put them in the store. And we have expanded everything a bit. placed so that it appears fuller.”
The store officially opened again at eleven o’clock. But at just after ten o’clock the first customer was already on the sidewalk. “He came by to buy a present and to wish me good luck.” And many customers are doing that this Sunday. “Really heart-warming,” says Sabine, visibly moved. “All customers sympathize. I now see what I and my store mean to people.”
The moment the store opened and customers came in was very special for Sabine. “A release. I was so happy. And it was also emotional, I lived for it all week. Fortunately I am open again before the holidays, because this is the busiest time of the year for me.”
