Ryan Thomas returns to PEC Zwolle: ‘Feels like home’ | Top sport region

Ryan Thomas (27) returns to PEC Zwolle. The midfielder who already played in Zwolle between 2013 and 2018 was transfer-free after his contract with PSV expired. He has almost recovered from his knee injury. He will sign until the end of the season with an option for a longer stay.

The New Zealander is of course happy to return to Zwolle. ,,At PEC Zwolle I experienced the best day of my football career, but not only that”, he says referring to the cup final that was won in 2014.

“I owe a lot to this club. They gave me the chance to play professional football in Europe almost ten years ago. Zwolle feels like home to me and my family.” He left for PSV in 2018 for about three million euros, but there he had to deal with a lot of injuries. “After a very nice period in Eindhoven with ups and downs, I feel stronger than ever and I am really looking forward to playing football again.”

Experienced player

Technical director Marcel Boudesteyn calls the return good news. “Ryan obviously has a fantastic history here. With Ryan we have added a strong and now very experienced player to our roster who can logically be of great value in our midfield.”

,,At 27 years old, there are still many great football years ahead. Ryan has had a long rehabilitation in Eindhoven and is now training on the field again. I am hopeful that he can join the selection before the end of this year.”

PEC Zwolle posted a video on social media earlier this afternoon showing the midfielder. This has already sparked much speculation among supporters.
