The actor Ryan Grantham, known among other things from the series “Riverdale”, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. The 24-year-old had pleaded guilty to shooting his mother in 2020. British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Kathleen Ker spoke of a heartbreaking, tragic, harrowing case. The sentence cannot be suspended for the first 14 years. A psychiatric report is not known. According to his testimony, Grantham murdered his mother simply because she found out about a planned killing spree.

According to prosecutors, Grantham recorded a video after the crime in which he confessed to the crime. He later admitted that he also wanted to kill Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. After his mother’s murder, Grantham loaded his car with guns and Molotov cocktails and pulled out directions to Trudeau’s home.

Ryan Grantham starred in one episode each in seasons four and five of Riverdale. Despite the few appearances, his role was important: in 2019, the actor Luke Perry, who played Fred Andrews, the father of the main character Archie Andrews, died in 2019 at the age of 52 from a stroke. As a result, Perry’s character also had to die in the series after the third season. Grantham played Jeffery Augustine, who is involved in the plot of Fred Andrews’ fatal car accident. Grantham has also appeared in the series “Supernatural” and “iZombie”.
