“While I was on the set of La La Land dancing and singing, playing the piano and having one of the best professional experiences of my lifemy lady was raising our first born, while expecting the second and in the meantime trying to help her brother in his fight against cancer. If she hadn’t taken all this burden on her shoulders, so that I could have this opportunity, there would definitely be another person here on stage today. So, honey, thank you so much. I wanted to dedicate this award to the memory of his brother Juan Carlos Mendes”, Ryan Gosling said clutching his award in his hands.

His thoughts also flew to her on the occasion of the most recent Kirk Douglas Award, collected in January 2024: «Cinema gave me the opportunity to meet the woman of my dreams, Eva Mendes, and to have two wonderful little girls. I dreamed of one day making films and now films have made my life a dream.”
A private life
The couple has two daughters, Esmeralda Amada, class of 2014, e Amada Leeborn in 2016. Theirs is one of the most reserved families in showbiz: few public appearances and no shared private moments.
Ryan Gosling does not have an official social account, while Eva Mendes uses hers exclusively for professional initiatives, although far from cinema. For them, privacy is the most important thing and also helps a little to fuel success, as happened for the stars of the past.
