Russian Daniil Medvedev insists on going to the Games: ‘If necessary under a neutral flag’ | Sport

The international tennis federation ITF had recently announced that it is adopting the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee and allowing tennis players from Russia and Belarus to participate as neutral athletes in Paris. An important condition is that athletes do not support the war against Ukraine nor have ties with the army.

“If it has to be under a neutral flag, I will play under a neutral flag. I will follow the rules,” Medvedev said. “I consider Tokyo to be one of the most beautiful memories in my sporting life. It surprised me, because in tennis we often think that the Grand Slam tournaments are more important,” said the Russian, who was eliminated in the quarter-finals in Tokyo. “If I participate, it is to show good tennis and try to win.”

The Olympic tennis tournament starts on July 27.
