Russia warns media about Ukraine reporting

The Russian media watchdog accuses ten media organizations in the country of sharing incorrect information about Ukraine. Written warnings demand that the “unreliable information” be removed.

Supervisor Roskomnadzor does not want the media to describe the so-called “special military mission” in Russia as an “attack, invasion or declaration of war”. The letter was sent to, among others, the Dozhd television channel and the Echo of Moscow radio station. The newspaper Novaja Gazeta has also received a warning. Editor-in-chief Dmitri Muratov won the Nobel Peace Prize last year.

The ten organizations could face fines and other penalties if they do not agree to Roskomnadzor’s request. There is a threat, among other things, to limit access to their websites.
