Russia wants Poland to return territory it “received” after WWII and demands 700 million euros “for reconstruction of the country” | War Ukraine and Russia

Russia wants Poland to return territory it “received” after WWII. “Poland must be punished for betraying the historical memory of the country’s liberation,” says Russian parliament speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who also wants to demand an additional $750 billion from Poland to “compensate for investment in the country after the war.” ”.

Relations between Poland and Russia were already particularly bad due to the war in Ukraine, but the statements of the Russian parliament speaker only add more fuel to the fire. In a statement, the Duma chairman called for Poland to be punished for “betraying the historical memory” of the country’s liberation from Nazi Germany by the Soviet Union through “hostile acts” against Moscow. According to Volodin, Poland only exists “thanks to Russia”.

In concrete terms, the parliament speaker wants a ban on Polish trucks crossing Russian territory and wants Poland to compensate Moscow financially – a total of almost 700 million euros – for the “reconstruction of the Eastern European country” after World War II.

It is not the first time that the Duma chairman has made strong statements towards Poland and the west. Volodin previously warned that “Europe will disappear in a nuclear apocalypse if the West sends nuclear weapons to Ukraine”. Vladimir Putin’s confidant has a weighty voice. For example, he was one of the first top figures to openly support the ‘military operation’ in Ukraine. At the beginning of this year, he proposed expropriating compatriots who had left the country. “We have to deal with that bastard who wipes his feet on our country.”
