Russia and China will cooperate more closely on defense matters. The focus is, among other things, on holding joint army exercises. The Security Council in Russia has said so, the Russian news agency Interfax reported.
According to the statement of the Council, there will also be more cooperation in the field of patrols and contacts will be strengthened. The statement was shared at the same time as Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev’s visit to China.
The leaders of Russia and China met in person for the first time in a long time last week. Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping met at a regional summit in Uzbekistan. At their previous meeting early this year, before the war in Ukraine broke out, they agreed to a partnership “without limits”.
