Rüdiger Rehm is returning to the third division soccer team Waldhof Mannheim as a coach.
The 44-year-old succeeds Christian Neidhart, whose contract was terminated after he missed promotion. Rehm appeared as a player in 97 games for SV Waldhof from 1997 to 2001.
“It’s really a very nice feeling to be able to work again at Alsenweg and in the Carl Benz Stadium,” said Rehm, who coached third division club FC Ingolstadt until January.
