Just before his departure as TV boss of RTL, Peter van der Vorst comes up with a big surprise: he brings the Meilandjes into his home. Three shakes of the wallet and the reality family is completely equipped in one go.
They were exhausted, the Meilandjes. They broke their exclusive collaboration with SBS 6 at the end of last year because they could no longer do it. The reality stars wanted to relax and garden at home, because all those cameras? They didn’t take that anymore. Well, we are one blank check from RTL later and the TV family is back on the air. Fully equipped.
Big surprise
RTL has a big surprise this afternoon: the Meilandjes have been brought into the house. For the next three years they can be seen exclusively on RTL and Videoland, ‘where they will once again share their lives, plans and dreams with the whole of the Netherlands’, it says.
The precise interpretation remains vague. “What exactly they will do for the channel and streamer will be announced at a later date. In any case, it promises to be a new, distinct and unforgettable chapter.”
Familiar feeling
For the Meilandjes, this step feels ‘like a new beginning that feels familiar at the same time’, reports RTL. “A place where they can be completely themselves, where there is room for their outspoken personalities, their humor and the sometimes chaotic, but always warm dynamics that make them so loved.”
“They are currently working on new formats in which their unique family dynamics naturally remain central. From new adventures to small, personal stories. It is precisely those heartfelt moments that ensure that the Netherlands always feels connected to the family.”
Exhausted
But the Meilandjes were exhausted, weren’t they? “With RTL and Videoland as a new home base, there is renewed energy to further expand and at the same time continue to surprise with new Meiland moments.”
